Registered provisional psychologist

Effat is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and has experience working in psychotherapy, psychoeducation, research and human services for the past ten years with various clients. For Effat it is of significant importance to positively impact her clients' life through effective therapeutic sessions and passionately help them change their lives. So as a counsellor in Canada's multicultural society, Effat would be culturally responsive and open to listening to and respecting the values, worldviews, and cultural sensitivities of ubiquitous cultural identities. Her mastery of Turkish, Azeri, Farsi and Dari has enabled her to work with a diverse population.
She is interested in the person-centred approach, Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and CBT modalities. Working with women, children, and immigrant/ refugee families, particularly traumatized clients with PTSD diagnosis are her priorities to address the unique needs of interpersonal or relational issues of diverse marginalized cultural groups.
Regarding marriage and family therapy, she strives to treat a wide range of clinical problems, including depression, couples conflictual relationships, anxiety, and child-parent conflicts, generally within solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and providing a safe place for the client to process their feelings and thoughts.
Moreover, she is on the verge of obtaining her international clinical hypnotherapy certificate to integrate hypnotherapy and psychotherapy to enhance her therapeutic capabilities. Tailoring therapy approaches to accommodate diverse clients' needs is her ultimate goal to help improve the community's mental health.
